Best universal travel adapters
GaN chargers, plug standards and the cables that survive a year of carry-on abuse.

A universal adapter changes the shape of the plug. It does not change voltage. Almost everything you carry — phones, laptops, cameras — handles 100-240V, but hair tools and small appliances often do not.
What to look for
Look for a GaN charger with at least 65W total output, two USB-C PD ports and a fused body. Anything that combines slide-out pins with high-wattage USB-C in one unit removes two items from your bag.
Cables
Braided 100W USB-C cables in two lengths — a short one for planes and a long one for hotel beds — cover almost every situation.
